Suggestion {Enchantment} {Compulsion} {Mind-Affecting} {Language-Dependent}
- Close range (25+5/2xCL feet), no gestures, uses material component (sweetness and a snake tongue).
- Unless target living creature Will saves, it obeys a reasonable-seeming and apparently non-damaging suggestion (described in a sentence or two) for 1 hour per caster level or until the task is completed.

Arcane Mark {Universal}
- 0 ft. range
- Permanently inscribes up to 6 symbols (such as letters), all within 1 square foot, into any material without otherwise damaging it; if Marking a living creature, it lasts for about a month. The mark may be made invisible, but can be revealed by Detect Magic, Read Magic, True Seeing, or See Invisibility, as well as by a Gem of Seeing or a Robe of Eyes. The mark can be removed by the caster or by an Erase, but cannot be dispelled.

- Each nonmagical ranged weapon that damages the character deals 10 fewer damage; this spell lasts for CL hours or until it has prevented CLx10, max 100 damage.

- Touch range, uses divine focus, uses material component (circle of powdered silver around subject).
- For 1 minute per caster level or until dismissed, 1-foot radius (3-foot diameter) circle around target grants +2 AC deflection bonus and +2 on saving throws from attacks or effects by evil creatures, suppresses all possession and control effects on the target (regardless of alignment), and prohibits evil summoned creatures from touching the target (including with natural attacks) unless the circle fails to overcome their spell resistance.

Entropic Shield {Abjuration}
- Personal range.
- A colorful aura surrounds you for 1 minute per caster level or until dismissed; any ranged attack requiring an attack roll (including rays) gains a 20% miss chance.

(I'm not sure of the formal rules on stacking concealment, but I would rule that using a spell with such a showy description negates concealment anyway. Casting it while you have total concealment is probably unwise, and at best pointless.)

Gaseous Form {Transmutation}
- Touch range, no incantations, uses divine focus, uses material component (gauze and smoke).
- Willing corporeal creature touched becomes insubstantial for 2 minutes per caster level or until dismissed. Target loses all armor bonuses except those from force effects, but gains damage reduction 10/magic and immunity to critical hits and poisons. It loses all supernatural abilities and cannot attack or cast any spell that requires gestures, incantations, a focus or a material component; a touch spell carried when affected is lost. Subject's gear and carried objects are affected. Subject gains fly 10 ft. with perfect maneuverability, but cannot use the Run action. Subject can squeeze through cracks but cannot enter liquids, and is subject to the effects of wind.

Dispel Magic {Abjuration}
- Medium range (100 feet + 10 feet per caster level).
- Target one creature or object. Make a dispel check (1d20 + your caster level, maximum of +10) against each ongoing spell on the target (including the target itself if it is a summoned creature or some similar magical creation), against a DC of 11 + the spell's caster level. Each spell is dispelled if you beat its DC.
- Alternately, target a magic item this way; make one dispel check against the item's caster level to suppress all of its properties for 1d4 rounds.
- Alternately, target a 20-foot radius burst of area. For each target in that area, make a dispel check against the highest-level spell affecting it, then against weaker spells until you dispel at most one spell for each target; magic items are unaffected. A summoned creature or the like gets a separate check to dispel it, then can still have one spell affecting it be dispelled. The area dispel can negate spells that are centered within its area, or negate the effects of those spells within the affected area if the centers of those spells are outside.
- Alternatively, cast as a counterspell against any spell being cast, but the spell is countered only if you succeed on a dispel check.
- You may automatically succeed on dispel checks to dispel any spell you cast yourself.
- Dispel Magic may dispel (but not counter) spell-like abilities.

Disguise Self {Illusion} {Glamer}
- Personal range.
- For 10 minutes per caster level or until dismissed, you and your equipment appear different - same body shape, but up to a foot taller or shorter. The illusion fools only sight and doesn't affect how your equipment functions. May add a +10 bonus to disguise checks. Anyone who interacts with the illusion (more than just seeing it) gets a Will save to disbelieve.

Nondetection {Abjuration}
- Touch range, uses material component (pinch of diamond dust worth 50 gp).
- The target is difficult to detect with divinations (such as detect magic, detect evil, clairaudience/clairvoyance, or locate object, or items like a crystal ball) for CL hours; casters of such spells must succeed a caster level check at a DC of 11+CL, +4 if the target is yourself or an item in your possession, or they do not register the target. Casting this spell on a creature also conceals that creature's gear.

They last up to 1 minute (or until dismissed) and move as you desire, up to 100 feet per round, each one winking out if it moves beyond the spell's range.

Grease {Conjuration} {Creation}
- Close range (25+5/2xCL feet), uses material component (butter or pork rind).
- One object or a 10-foot square of ground is rendered slippery for 1 round per caster level or until dismissed; slippery ground causes characters therein to fall each round (including when the spell is cast), unless they make a Reflex save or walk at half speed while making a DC 10 Balance check (failure means they cannot move and must Reflex save after all). Greasing a held or otherwise used object allows a Reflex save to avoid it being affected; on a failure the item is dropped immediately, and another save is needed when attempting to pick it up again and each time it is used while the spell lasts. An object not currently in use is automatically greased. Greasing a person's clothes or armor grants them +10 on Escape Artist checks or defensive Grapple checks.

Hypnotism {Enchantment} {Compulsion} {Mind-Affecting}
- 1 full round to cast, Close range (25+5/2xCL feet).
- For 2d4 rounds or until dismissed, 2d4 HD of creatures within 30 feet of each other are fascinated (taking no actions, with -4 to Listen and Spot; potential threats give a new saving throw and obvious threats end the effect); potential targets are affected in increasing order of HD. Targets must be able to see and hear you but need not understand you, and each receives a Will save to resist; +2 to the saving throws of targets in combat, or -2 to the saving throw of a single target not in combat. While hypnotised, a target is 2 degrees friendlier to you, and can be persuaded of a single brief, reasonable request which remains after the hypnotism ends, at which point the target does not know it was hypnotised.

Unseen Servant {Conjuration}, {Creation}
- Close range (25+5/2xCL feet), uses divine focus, consumes material component (string and wood).
- An invisible, shapeless, mindless force performs menial tasks for you for 1 hour per caster level. It has an effective Strength of 2 (lift 20 pounds or drag 100 pounds), moves 15 feet a round, and can't perform tasks that have a DC higher than 10 or require a skill that requires training. It cannot attack in any way and ceases to exist if 6 points of area damage is dealt to its location, or if it is ever beyond the spell's range from your current position.

Knock {Transmutation}
- Medium range (100+10xCL feet), no gestures.
- One door, box or chest (of up to 10 square feet per level in area; a typical 4' by 7' door can be unlocked by the minimum caster level needed to learn this spell) unlocks and opens itself, even if it was stuck or barred; undoes hold portal and temporarily (for 10 minutes) suspends the function of arcane lock. If a door is secured in more than two ways, it requires an additional knock to remove each two impediments to opening the door. Does not affect ropes, vines, or porcullises and similar gates. Works on secret doors or trick chests.

Alarm {Abjuration}
- Close range (25+5/2xCL feet), uses divine focus, uses focus (a little bell and silver wire).
- A 20-foot radius around the target point is warded for 2 hours per caster level or until dismissed. Any time a creature of Tiny or larger size enters or touches the area without speaking your chosen password triggers the alarm; when casting, you choose either a mental alarm which alerts only you, as long as you're within 1 mile of the target, or an audible bell ringing for 1 round which anyone within 60 feet hears clearly, and can be faintly heard as much as 180 feet away (reduce distance by 10 feet per closed door and 20 feet per wall intervening). The mental alarm wakes you up if asleep but does not otherwise disturb your concentration. Ethereal or astral creatures do not trigger the alarm.

Spiritual Weapon {Evocation} {Force}
- Medium range (100+10xCL feet), uses divine focus.
- Creates a weapon of force which lasts for 1 round per caster level or until dismissed; it attacks each target once on the first turn, then as many times as your base attack bonus allows on subsequent rounds versus the same target, attacking during your turn and adding your Wisdom bonus to each hit roll. It deals 1d8+1 per 3 caster levels, maximum 5 damage and uses the threat range and critical multiplier of your deity's or alignment's favored weapon (if neutral, choose any alignment weapon if you're behaving consistently with that alignment), though it counts as spell damage and affects incorporeal foes. The weapon strikes from your direction and cannot flank or benefit from flanking. You may move the weapon to a new target with a move action; even if ranged, the weapon uses the spell's range instead of its own and requires a move action to retarget. If the weapon goes out of sight or range of you, or if you stop directing it, it returns to you and hovers. The weapon can't be physically attacked but can be dispelled, disintegrated, or the like; it has AC 12 (assuming it's Tiny) vs. touch attacks. If you attack a creature with spell resistance, the weapon is dispelled upon its first hit if your caster level check fails, but if successful can attack that creature for the duration.

(This is my single favorite spell in all of D&D to date. However, I dislike the extreme specificity it requires for what weapon you get depending on your deity or alignment.)

Fox's Cunning {Transmutation}
- Touch range; uses divine focus, uses material component (a bit of fox fur).
- Target gains +4 enhancement bonus to Intelligence (+2 INTMOD) for 1 minute per caster level. Intelligence-based casters do not get any extra spells this way, but the save DCs of their spells go up. (And needless to say, a character who levels up while under this spell does not get extra skill points.)

- Choose to open or close a door or container of up to 30 pounds, if it is not barred or locked in any way.

(If and when I get around to doing major revisions on the spell system, this is one of the first spells that would be outright eliminated, in favor of more flexible spells which include this as one utility option.)

Color Spray {Illusion} {Pattern} {Mind-Affecting}
- 15-foot cone burst, uses material component (pinches of sand in several colors).
- Each sighted creature within the affected area must Will save or be stunned for 1 round; if it has 4 or fewer HD it is first blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds; if it has 2 or fewer HD it is first blinded, stunned, and (if alive) knocked unconscious for 2d4 rounds. (Thusly, a weak target is stunned anywhere from 3 to 13 rounds.)

(Canonically the spell calls for 3 colors of sand, but I'm making it 4, though it doesn't matter which four as long as they are bright and clashing. It is ironic that no such colors appear in this post.)
