Torch

Post by willpell » Thu Nov 12, 2015 6:27 pm

Torch (1 cp, 1 pound)
- Bright light in 20-foot radius.
- Dim light in another 20-foot radius. Creatures in this area have concealment (20% miss chance, can't be sneak attacked) and can make Hide checks without need of cover.
- Burns for 1 hour.
- If used as a weapon, treat as One-Handed and Improvised (-4 penalty to hit), dealing 1d3 damage (assuming it's Medium-sized), plus 1 fire damage. (Against a Swarm, it instead deals 1d3 fire damage total.)

Caltrops

Post by willpell » Thu Nov 12, 2015 6:28 pm

Caltrops (bag: 1 gp, 2 pounds)
One bag of caltrops covers a 5-foot square; whenever a creature* moves into a caltropped square (unless moving at half speed or less), or each round in combat while in such a square, roll a d20. If the result equals or exceeds the character's AC, ignoring any armor, shield or deflection bonuses but adding +2 AC if the character wears shoes, the character steps on a caltrop, takes 1 point of piercing damage, and has its speed reduced by half for 24 hours or until its foot is healed (with magical cures, or with a DC 15 Heal check which takes 10 minutes). A creature that is charging or running when it hits a caltrop must immediately stop.

* Exact susceptibility varies; the book gives examples of a monstrous centipede and a giant (wearing boots) as both being unaffected by traditional caltrops.
