Materials from the old TSR AOL site

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

Materials from the old TSR AOL site

Postby stanles » Tue Sep 24, 2013 10:43 am

hello All

I've been going through the AOL Savage Coast Message Board materials, and apart from all of the interesting discussions and materials, there are a number of materials which were apparently made available as TSR Downloads of the Month, or as other things which I dont have from back then.

Does anybody else have any of these?

Enduk PC stats - TSR Download of the Month!
New Monster: Vermillion Dragon - TSR Download of the Month!
RED STEEL: "Lost Kits" - Library/AD&D House Rules

The Enduk PC stats could have ended up as the materials in the Orc's Head Peninsula Campaign Book and the Vermillion Dragon may have ended up as the Crimson Dragon in the Savage Coast Monstrous Compendium, but that's just a supposition.

cheers
shawn

Thanks Morfie, that could be it - in which case the materials appear to be very similar to materials which ended up appearing in the Orc's Heads Peninsula Campaign Book here, http://www.pandius.com/eeaarend.html, and here, http://www.pandius.com/oh_char.html

Somebody has just written to me at the Vaults asking about the old vermilion (or is it vermillion) dragon write-up again. Some additional googling has come up with:

Apparently there were at least 1000 downloads of the TSR Download of the Month information: http://pandius.com/SavageCoastMB1.pdf

Its clear that Pyre was considered to be a such a dragon and we can get something from his stats: http://pandius.com/savsteel.html; and Pyre may even be the only one: http://pandius.com/Threshold_13.pdf

It is possible that by the time that the Savage Coast Monstrous Compendium came out that the creature changed to a Crimson Dragon: http://pandius.com/crimsond.html although some of the particulars are definitely different from Pyre's stats: http://pandius.com/savsteel.html. NPCDave as noted some differences here: https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?72 ... ng/page163. So it seems that they have a copy of the original download ...

So does anybody have a copy? Unfortunately back then I didn't have access to AOL online, you know being in Australia and all, and that was the only place that TSR released it. Many of their other downloads ended up on their website, but not this one. Does anybody have a copy?

I don't have the files myself, but I have reached out to a few contacts. Will let you know in a few days if this goes anywhere :)

My own PC is currently on repair, so I can't view and check my compilation files, as I surely must have used these in my MMMC Dragon chapter.
When available I can check the vermilion Dragon what I have...maybe next week orso.

Sean, you could try posting this question on the Mystara FB group. Something may just pop out.

I have checked all dragon magazines til 250

beyond that the only vermilion dragon i could find was in the yugioh cardgame, dragon quest VIII, Castle agehttps://videogames.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/900672/, an artist named zee-arts; https://www.zeeillustrations.com/portfolio?lightbox=dataItem-ipe0rbff3
but no D&D (any version), but lots of Red Dragons though.
