What System Would You Use To Run Piazza World?

Post by Boddynock » Sun Apr 18, 2010 4:12 pm

Okay this is just an exercise to keep us creators thinking about Piazza World without having all of the creative juices flowing. The scenario is your going to run a game based on the Piazza World continent. You have your really nice map, you have the bad guys lined up, but what rule system would you the GM personally use and why?

For me I'd run the group using Castles and Crusades. Its quick to convert a lot of my AD&D stuff I own and I just like the feel over it over the 3rd edition monster. C&C Does use the OGL and it does hold the same principal of 'high is always good' but I just like the feel of it.

I recommend using the d20a system. The A stands for apocalypse edition, by the way. I'm not entirely sure whether that is a reference to how long the rules should be good for before a better system comes out, or how long before I actually finish making it

Well, I would use any rule system where I wouldn't need to convert most of the monsters' stats ;)

Probably I'll use the d20 system, altough I musta admit that I always had some fascination for the old GURPS system...

To run the game I would doubtlessly use BRP. I'd write it for d20 or B/X, though. I'm not worried about monster conversion, because I've been doing that to D&D modules for over 25 years.

I would go with either D&D 3,5 or Pathfinder

It would depend on my players, either d20 or Rolemaster. Coversion is no problem, been swapping back and forth for years.

Pathfinder. I can convert back to any previous version from there.

I think this would be the perfect means to do a proper and complete playtest of Dark Dungeons.

It would be rather appropriate, I agree.

Sounds like we need expansion rules for playable lizards, rani, gnomes, and so on.

Does Dark Dungeons include rules for flexible race/class combinations?

Hmmm... I wonder if DD's answer to Creature Crucible is next on Blacky's block, lol! The "Monster Menagerie" Series!

A perfect name, however we need to double check. Wotc planned a MtG expansion with that name in the late 90's. I don't know if the ever made it however.

I'd also dig using the skill based Savage Worlds but would be apt to use Pathfinder as well. Dark Dungeons is a very interesting system but I'm not sure my players would go for it.

I bought the core rulebook pdf just 2 days ago, and downloaded the conversion guide as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing just how it differs from 3.5e.
