It does, but it's more expensive. Plus, I don't need a PDF of the GM Screen.

Not a troll, i promise, but what is the point of a GM's screen? I've always seen them sold, and I have a couple from KS bundles that included them with things i actually wanted, but I've never seen a use for them myself. Is it just to hide dice? Or are the tables that helpful? I figured I would ask here since its a post about people who are already buying one, but I can ask elsewhere if it would fit better.

I mostly use screens to set the mood for the players with the illustration(s). It also hides the dungeon map and other info I might have. The minis I will use during the game are placed next to the screen, on my side, so I don't waste time looking for them. The tables are useful from time to time. More when we change D&D edition or play a rpg we don't often play. I never hide (of fudge) rolls from players except secret rolls.

I've done the same as shesheyan. I try to keep any importnat notes that aren't meant for the players behind the screen. I am a fan of DM screens. I know they aren't always necessary, as I've played under some DMs/GMs that have keep all their notes on their laptop. One DM/GM I played under had a sleeve over the top of his laptop to insert artwork in, depending on which system they were running...essentially making their laptop his their screen.

Tables can be helpful -- depending on which kind of game you are playing (try playing Rolemaster without a screen...). However, I concur with Shesheyan that hiding notes and maps is the primary use. Indeed, I tend to use AD&D screens when playing BECMI, because my BECMI screen is way too old (and the Birthright screen has a very scenic illustration).
I don't use them as much in Call of Cthulhu and similar games, since maps are rarely large or complex enough that I can't go without keeping them on the table.

Ok, thank you! That does all make sense. i guess cause I tend to run from a tablet with a dice roller,a lot of the stuff you guys use a screen for I am already doing just on my tablet. I always walk when I talk, so i rarely have a dedicated spot at the table. I have always been curious cause my style, which is very similiar to the styles of the GM's i played with, have never used them. i appreciate the info and the feed back.
