Hi Ben. Welcome to The Piazza.
Thanks for pulling that offensive content out of Promised Sands, and for clarifying that was what Harsh Realities were doing.
Congratulations on making the base goal for Promised Sands and good luck making one or more of the stretch goals in the four days you have left.
There has been some comparison made between Promised Sands and Al-Qadim and Dark Sun
. Obviously Promised Sands is its own thing, but with the three settings fitting into a similar sort of environment, there is more of a chance that material could be raided from one setting to add to another. You have seen the new setting. Which of those two old TSR worlds do you think are most similar to Promised Sands?
If someone were want to raid your new book for ideas for Al-Qadim or Dark Sun, how easy do you think it would be for them to get good ideas out of your book? What are the concepts in the book that are most "raidable"?
Your Kickstarter FAQ mentions "lost content":
Promised Sands Kickstarter page wrote:The new Promised Sands has new content. In addition to the content added via stretch goals and backer submission, there is more material that hit "the cutting room floor" when the original book was trimmed down to 400 pages. This "newly found content" (actually older content that was set aside) will be added.
Roughly how much "cutting room material" have you got hold of? Are we talking of about 5 percent of the original book or something more significant, like 20-30 percent? And what sort of content is this extra stuff?
Your Kickstarter has some goals:
Promised Sands Kickstarter page wrote:
- 4500 New characters and fiction by Todd Liukart
- 5000 Adventure by Joseph Wolf
- 5300 New Djezinti tribes by Brian Engard
- 5500 Adventure by Cynthia Celeste Miller
- 6000 Scorchlands expanded by Eddy Webb
- 6500 Additional color artwork
- 7000 Zombies by John Goff
Some of those sound pretty interesting. Are all of those things that will expand the new Promised Sands book? Or are you planning to put out the two adventures as separate books?
Where do you see Promised Sands going after the Kickstarter book gets published? Are you hoping to turn it into a product line or keep it as a single book?
You might want to use the forum's User Control Panel
to set one of those links as your website in your Profile
. You might also want to set your forum Signature
to include those links and maybe the link(s) of any Kickstarter(s) you have on the go or anything else that is current. As long as you keep it to a few lines, you can put whatever you want there and help anyone interested in your products to find more information from any post you make.
You might also want to grab a thumbnail picture from one of your products (or your company logo) and upload it as your forum Avatar
as avatars help people recognise who they are talking to.
Just so you know, if you have any news about this or other Kickstarters, The Piazza set up a special forum, called The Wishing Well
, for industry news (including Kickstarter announcements), so if you want to let people know what Harsh Realities is up to (without it looking like you are spamming) you can start a thread over there when you have something to announce.
