Ewoks

Post by Havard »

Ever use them in a game? Ever use them as PCs?

I once had an Ewok PC in a game, but the player just selected it to be silly. :(

These days I am toying with the idea about an Endor campaign.

The fact that in canon they were bound to a single planet for long time doesn't help, as campaign books (for example Living Force viewtopic.php?f=93&t=19491 and Dawn of Defiance viewtopic.php?f=93&t=21040) don't allow them as playing characters in several eras.

They are my preferred PC race in late-era Star Wars games.

Yeah. I remember that old Marvel Star Wars comics from the 80s had Ewoks join the Rebels after Return of the Jedi, but it would be more difficult to justify anyone leaving before that. Still, the Caravan of Courage and Battle For Endor TV movies (They were awful, but I love them) both feature space ships arriving on Endor, so its not impossible that a few Ewoks might have made it off world earlier on. But those would definitely be super rare.

It's interesting that we haven't seen any ewoks in any of the Disney era sequel movies. Makes me wonder if they want us to try to forget that Ewoks exist.

I doubt it. Who wouldn't want to sell more Ewok toys? Besides, if the Death Star debris seen in the Ep. IX trailer are from the Second Death Star, there's a chance there will be Ewoks in that movie.

Okay, yes. They can be very cool if done right. I'd love to see them again.

Honestly, they are a pre-space flight species with a massive language and culture barrier in place, that live on one moon in a single star system. I don't see any reason why they should even have stats, let alone be a playable race.

Its never come up for me however, since I've never had someone want to play one in any game I've run or play. but I would come down on the side of "no you can't, if you really want to play a teddy bear, a Noghri would be a better option. At least they have space flight"

That Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races had some weird species in it.
