[WH40K] Wrath & Glory RPG

The Old World. On the surface, it is a vast and fertile place, but a shadow hangs over the world, cast by the dark, corrupting hand of Chaos.

[WH40K] Wrath & Glory RPG

Ulisses North America have obtained the license from Games Workshop to create a new RPG set in the Warhammer 40K Universe:
In Development: Wrath & Glory for Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay

The time has come once again to step into the grim darkness of the 41st millennium!

Roleplaying game company Ulisses North America have acquired the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay licence and would like to announce their first product line, Wrath & Glory.

Ross Watson has been tapped to develop this new product line for Ulisses North America. Watson is best known for his role as lead developer for Rogue Trader and Deathwatch, as well as his numerous contributions to other Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay products. He is very experienced with the world and the game in all its incarnations.

Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Wrath & Glory is a roleplaying game set in the universe of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000. The setting is a dark, Gothic future where the galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man is beset by horrific threats and endless war. In Wrath & Glory, players join to tell stories of mystery, action, and terror amongst the bloodstained stars. You may take on the roles of characters fighting against the tide of corruption sweeping the galaxy, struggling to keep alive a glimmer of hope as others revel in the consuming flames.

Wrath & Glory launches in 2018 with the Wrath & Glory Core Rulebook. Inside are rules for character creation, task resolution, combat, and other activities your character may employ as they explore the grim darkness of the far future. In Wrath & Glory, your characters glimpse the grime on the cherub’s wings, the hint of regret in the Radical’s eyes, and confront their own worst fears in the Harlequin’s mask.

Ulisses North America will hold a seminar at Gen Con 2017, where Ross Watson will discuss further details about the game and the products that are in development. If you can’t make it to Indianapolis, there will be video of the seminar available afterwards.

In anticipation of this release, Ulisses North America have launched a teaser website that includes a few Frequently Asked Questions, as well as a link to the Gen Con seminar. You can also read the official press release here.

If you want all the details about these new RPG products as soon as they are available, you can sign up for a mailing list specifically for Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay.

In the meantime, if you are eager to revisit previous Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay products such as Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy, and Deathwatch, they will be available soon on DriveThruRPG!

I've seen the work they've done with this edition. I have to say i'm impressed so far. The system is NOT compatible with previous editions of Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Only War, etc. and the storyline is in sync with 8th edition 40k.

Even though I played the 40K miniature war game during 4th and 5th edition I never managed to play in a 40K RPG game.

I wasn't a fan of the FFG version because each setting was very specific with unique rules. Characters couldn't really change settings. This new edition does away with that. The settings are unified and characters can move from one to the other. Here is a link to a review of the FREE RPG Day quick start rules that contains also a mission and pre-gen characters. If you didn't nab it no problem there is a link to a FREE copy of the booklet in the description under the Youtube video. Its free ONLY in July 2018. After that they will charge 5$.

I'm waiting for the dead tree version to become available as well. PDF's just don't seem to cut it for me nowadays.
That's WFRP 4e, Wrath, and The Black Hack 2e in dead tree that I'm waiting for now. Not a bad year.

Looks like Cublicle 7 took over this project from Ulisses last year:
Games Workshop is pleased to announce that award-winning publisher Cubicle 7 Entertainment is to produce Warhammer 40,000 roleplaying games.

Cubicle 7 CEO Dominic McDowall said, ”Warhammer 40K is a huge chunk of our gamer DNA so we are all incredibly excited to build on the long legacy of 40K RPGs. I’ve been a 40K fanatic since the first edition, so I am absolutely delighted to bring our brand of roleplaying to this amazing setting.”

The initial range of products will be a revised reprint of the Wrath & Glory Core Rulebook and an extensive range of supplements covering exciting new areas, as well as revisiting beloved old favourites. Cubicle 7 hope that their track record of producing beautiful and immersive licensed games that capture the feel of their settings – including Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay – will appeal to Warhammer 40K gamers old and new.

Cubicle 7 is working with Ulisses’ Wrath & Glory design team to deliver the titles already planned for the game. Ulisses will continue to publish the German language edition of Wrath & Glory, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and the Warhammer Age of Sigmar roleplaying games, in partnership with Cubicle 7.

Cubicle 7’s new license comes on the back of a year of enormous growth for the company, with a huge increase in staffing and capability to deliver its range of best-selling game lines.

They are doing a full re-edit and integrating all of the errata that has been released so far for the original release, but they are not updating / changing the fundamental mechanics of the system, so it's not going to be a new game or anything

That makes sense.

Are you saying the fundamental mechanics are broken?

How does this game work? :)

I mean, they work, they just don't feel very 40k to me. They are trying to make a setting where you can have Space Marines and Eldar and Orks all in the same group. There was also a lot of bad editing that meant some of the mechanics just didn't make sense, that should all be cleaned up with the new release. Maybe it will be better? I don't know.

I will admit that part of it is just i loved the Dark Heresy game so much that it's going to be hard for anything to live up to it in my eyes
