Hsiao-Bears?

Owl Bears, but with Hsiao instead of the Owl Part? Just silly or something workable? :D

Would be an interesting abomination :-)
And quite dangerous for adventurers!

What are the D&D stats for the Hsiao like, compared to normal Owls?

Could you use the differences between the Hsiao and an Owl to work out how to modify the stats of an Owl-Bear? (For example if a Hsiao has an Int score that is 10 more than an Owl, add 10 to the Int of an Owl-Bear.)

Indeed, I would give the Hsiao-Bear high Wis and High Int. Perhaps also better control of its front claws so that it could operate tools and missile weapons? Also, they could become Cleric spellcasters like Hsiao...

That could be kind of cool, actually. Maybe evil cleric counterparts to the Hsiao. Just as the owlbears themselves are unnatural predators, the hsiao-bears would be something like evil blight druids or clerics, seeking to destroy the natural world.

You know what, I like this! Originally, I thought they would be Lawful like regular Hsiao. Perhaps their origins are similar to Driders in that they are cursed Hsiao, or evil Hsiao who actively seek out this form?

I second this idea. Hsiao-bears bent on destroying nature would make for good (and dangerous) villains.
